The Flight Simulator

For the benefit of the newcomer to aviation and flight simulator download, let me point out that a joystick, or center stick, is what one uses to fly early aircraft, all the way up to the Spitfires and Hurricanes in World War II, whereas a yoke features grips for both hands. Most single-engine planes and ultra lights use joysticks (although there are always exceptions – the Cessna 172 uses a yoke). Helicopters use a joystick. Military aircraft generally use a center stick. Passenger aircraft use yokes/wheels, however the latest  Airbuses use a side-stick!

FlightProSim strives for realism. All of its aircraft have accurate instrument panels, and handle in much the same way as their real-life counterparts. Of course there is some fudging, but that’s just the nature of the home-flight-simulator beast.

There are over 20,000 airports in the complete FlightProSim system, as well as accurate scenery for the entire world. These, and about 80 of the over 100 aircraft featured in FlightProSim need to be downloaded from the Members Area, however this is a simple matter.

When FlightProSim is started up, a series of launch screens appear. From these screens, the operator can choose which aircraft to fly, which airport and runway to start from (or if he or she wants the aircraft to start up in the sky, with a given altitude, speed and heading), the time of day – or night – and the current weather.

The airports are all “real world” (although some may not exist anymore in real life), with accurate runway markings and approach lighting.  Some runways change elevation like they usually do in real life and so on.
