FlightProSim is a computer flight program that offers a variety of aircraft to fly, and makes a splendid jet flight simulator.

FlightProSim is a fully-featured piece of software. It offers over 100 aircraft – from the pioneer craft of the Wright Flyer, which could make controlled turns, to the Santos-Dumont 14bis, which couldn’t – to the aircraft of WWI like the Sopwith Camel and the Fokker Dr. 1 Triplane, to the aircraft of WWII like the popular Supermarine Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane, to the Japanese Zero, to the Messerschmitt 109 and Focke-Wulf 190.

However, for those who are interested in real speed, there are also several jets in this jet flight simulator, from the very first operational jet aircraft during World War II, the Messerschmitt 262 (aka the Swallow!) which first saw service in April, 1944, to the  Lockheed P-80 Shooting Star to the MiG-15.  Britain’s Gloster Meteor, is not yet represented.

Then there’s the Douglas A4F Skyhawk, the Grumman A-6 Intruder, the Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jet and the Eurofighter Typhoon. However, no jet flight simulator would be complete without the F-14 Tomcat, F-15 Eagle, the F-16 Fighting Falcon, and the F-18 Hornet, and FlightProSim has all of these.

Indeed, FlightProSim has several jet aircraft from around the world. This flight simulation software doesn’t support air-to-air combat, but one can certainly fly each plane, perform aerobatics, and even fly in formation with other aircraft, if they choose to set up for multi-player use.

FlightProSim allows the individual to have as real a jet flight simulator as possible. There will be no G-forces felt, but by using a joystick, or yoke and throttle system with rudder pedals, a pretty accurate cockpit can be simulated. These accessories do cost about a hundred dollars each, and are not specifically necessary – each of the planes can be flown using the keyboard as well. But for the most accurate experience, keyboard piloting really doesn’t cut it.

FlightProSim is a full-feature simulator, for whatever aircraft is desired, including being a jet flight simulator. Although the base package comes only with several airports and scenery around California, on the payment of a small fee the entire world is the pilot’s oyster. The graphics are vmap0 lakes, rivers, roads, railroads, cities, towns, and land cover. (To the uninitiated, vmap0 stands for Vector Mapping, and 0 is the lowest level of resolution, but accurate enough for flight simulator standards.

It’s also possible to control the weather, the time, whether the armchair pilot wishes to begin his or her trip from ground level or en media res – i.e. already up in the air and flying a specific heading.   You are going to Love Flight Pro Sim!
