The Flight Simulator

Flight Pro Sim is flight simulator software that offers over 100 aircraft for the armchair pilot to fly. Also in the fleet are the Cessna 150L, 172P, the 172R, the 182, the 310R, the 550 Citation II, the Citation X and the Cessna T-37 “Tweet.” So for a Cessna flight simulator, Flight Pro Sim fills the bill.

The T-37 is actually a military craft. Indeed, it served as the U.S. Air Force’s primary pilot training vehicle for over 50 years, from 1956 to 2001, when the T-6 Texan took over that role.  Cessna had long been a provider of aircraft to the USAF.

I won’t give the history of the rest of the Cessna’s expect to point out that the 150, 172 and 182 are single engine, the 310 is a twin engine, and the 550 was the company’s first business jet. However, it is pretty fascinating to read up on the history of these craft, so check them out.

It’s possible to fly all of these planes using just the computer keyboard, but for a real aviation experience, what’s needed is at least a joystick. A flight yoke and rudder pedals also come in handy, and if the user wants to go all out, even invest in a throttle quadrant. Each of these items costs in the $100 range, but with all of them together, the simulation experience is about as realistic as it can get.

In addition to all these options, for a real Cessna flight simulator experience, the speed and power of the computer on which its being run is also a concern. These days, computers are less expensive and more powerful than ever, however, they do vary in that power. As far as Flight Simulator Pro is concerned, here are the  minimum features:
